What's going on in the dark recesses of plant genomes?
That's the complex question that I am trying to address. In particular I am curious how long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) act as sensors to help plants response to changes in their environment. To find answers for this question I use a wide range of tools. Bioinformatics, comparative genomics and transcriptomics, evolutionary biology, and good old fashion molecular techniques. They are all necessary to understand how lncRNAs influence plant responses to environmental change.
